Chris Nolan Passes the Torch: Here’s What the Next Batman Director Should Do

The Dark Knight Rises opened to mixed reviews, although the early ones were more positive and absolutely glowing. Some people loved it, while others left the theaters unimpressed.

Regardless of the reviews, since it opened last July 20th, TDKR has raked in $543 million worldwide and that number is predicted to soar even higher in the coming weeks. So it only makes sense that Warner Bros. is planning a reboot of the entire Batman franchise a few years down the line when the time is right. At least, that's what the rumors indicate.

Regardless of how this movie turned out for you, most fans would say that director Christopher Nolan is still the best at what he does. That fact was clearly cemented with Nolan's second Batman movie, The Dark Knight, which still gives me goosebumps to this day.

Nolan is also well aware of the fact that a reboot is definitely waiting in the wings. And he's well within his rights to dole out some undoubtedly valuable advice to the next director who'll be taking over the Betman reboot. Here goes:

The only advice I would have is... when I first met with Paul Levitz of DC prior to Batman Begins, he explained to me very clearly that Batman, of all superheroes, has thrived on reinterpretation and almost being strengthened by it. And I'm talking obviously about over the years in the comic books but then also through the movies.

So when the time is right, when somebody does whatever the next iteration of the character is, they simply need to be true to what they really want to see, do something they believe in, not worry too much about what everyone else is telling them it should be.

Sounds like pretty solid advice. But what else can you expect from one of the world's best?
