The word on this Bryce Harper kid was he could hit the long ball pretty darn good, so it was only a matter of time before fans got to see it happen for the first time. Like many other firsts, it probably felt like it took forever to young Bryce Harper for it to happen. With all the attention and press adding to the pressure, his bat must have felt heavier and heavier with each swing that didn't knock the ball out of the park.

No. 1 finally happened for Harper in the third inning of Monday's game with the San Diego Padres. In his 15th game and his 54 at-bat he killed Tim Stauffer's pitch, knocking it over the center field fence 402 feet to become the youngest player to hit a home run in the Show since Adrian Beltre in 1998 (Harper is 40 days older than Beltre was).
