In case you weren't aware, Dan Aykroyd and company have been trying to make Ghostbusters 3for, oh, forever now, but he's been unable to getterdone. The roadblock? Bill Murray. For whatever reason he thinks another Ghostbusters film is a terrible idea, and since he is a partial owner of the rights to the franchise, he's been able to hold the project hostage.

Of course, Murray has every right to do so. If he thinks another instalment will tarnish the legacy of the original classic (even more than the second film already did), he's got every right to do what he can to see that it doesn't get made. On the other hand, Aykroyd and company have every right to be frustrated, too, because Murray has been standing between them and a substantial payday.

In any case, I only bring all this up again as context for the announcement of Murray's newest role, which is in a movie—are you ready for this?—about tracking down and capturing rogue ghosts.

Sounds kind of familiar, right?

The film is called B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations. It's an animated DreamWorks flick about a pair of ghost detectives who, as part of an elite counter-haunting organization, must track down the afterlife's most notorious haunter. According to Variety, Murray will voice the ghostly super villain, while the two main ghost hunters—who are ghosts themselves—will be voiced by Seth Rogen and Melissa McCarthy.

So, come 2015, you will be able to see a movie about ghosts starring Bill Murray. It's just not the one you (or Dan Aykroyd) were probably hoping for.
