‘Batman: The Telltale Series’ Trailer Drops, And It’s Heavy On The Bruce

Batman, our ol’ bat-tastic buddy Bruce, has been doing really damn well of late. The Dark Knight movies weren’t just good superhero movies, they were good action movies in general, and that’s a rare thing right there. In the gaming world, the Arkham series was a similar deal, renewing a lot of players’ faith in licensed games (which are, historically, ballachingly bad).

I mean, sure, then Batman vs Superman happened, but let’s just skate over that. In general, the bat signal is burning pretty damn bright in the sky right now, Ben Affleck or no Ben Affleck. It’s not a bad time to be dropping a Batman game on us, is what I’m getting at here. Telltale Games is doing just that, but as we’ve seen before, it’s going to be a little different around here.

As the developers’ name suggests, they specialize in character-driven, text heavy adventures (see the Walking Dead game), and the Bat himself wouldn’t really cut it there. He’s more a growl-the-bare-minimum-of-lines-in-his-studly-man-voice-then-shatter-a-criminal’s-sternum sort of guy. So the deal with this one is, we’re playing mostly as Bruce Wayne himself.

A much more deliberate, slower pacing, then, but that’s not always something to bitch about. Telltale have just released a trailer for the first part of this episodic adventure, so take a look and judge for yourself whether it’s something you want to be a part of.
