Arian Foster Criticized for Going Vegan

The man stands an inch over six feet tall and weighs in at around 229 pounds. In two full seasons as the starting running back for the Houston Texans Arian Foster has run for over 2800 yards and 26 touchdowns to go with an additional 1221 yards and four scores through the air.

He's proven he can play, and must know how to take care of his body (in order to do what he does). So then why is linebacker Brian Cushing giving him grief because he's decided to become a vegan?

"I had a long conversation with him about that. I told him, 'If this doesn't work, I'm going to kick your ass,' "Cushing said.

Foster says that he's made the choice in order to become a healthier, stronger football player. His performance on the field is not what has people concerned. It's the similarities to another talented running back, Ricky Williams.

Williams became infamous for his odd behavior, and the hope is that Foster will not become just like him. Many have noted that he is even starting to have the same kind of cadence in his speech. Foster says there is nothing to worry about though.

I didn't just blindly stop eating meat. I know what I'm doing.

Then again, being compared to Ricky Williams isn't all bad. After all he did run for over 10,000 yards over 11 seasons in the NFL. Tight end Tony Gonzalez, who was also a vegan (but now eats chicken and fish), is not half bad either. Rumor has it that Desmond Howard guy and Joe Namath were alright too (both vegetarians).
