Ryan Reynolds and Sam Jackson Yuk it Up in New ‘Hitman’s Bodyguard’ Trailer (VIDEO)

Now that Hollywood seems to have finally figured out what to do with Ryan Reynolds, it's no longer embarrassing to admit that you're looking forward to a film he's headlining. Case in point, the upcoming action/comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard pairs Reynolds with Samuel L. Jackson for a flick where they both appear to be doing what they do best: trading insults and getting themselves into seemingly un-winnable scenarios.

Sure, the film's director is something of a question mark as his only major film to date was The Expendables 3, arguably the worst of those movies, but the two stars combined with a supporting cast that includes Gary Oldman, Salma Hayek, and Richard E. Grant gives me hope that this could rise above the usual late summer fare. Hell, Bram Stoker's Dracula fans should be elated at this reunion of Oldman and Grant, which should be enough to get all fifteen of us into the theater on opening weekend.

Honestly, any film being released in late August that looks even halfway decent will likely seem more promising because all of the "good" movies have come and gone by that point. Thankfully this looks above average and might end up being surprisingly good. At the very least, it will benefit from seriously lowered expectations. The Hitman's Bodyguard hits theaters on August 18.
