For many months now, film nerds have been obsessing over a certain upcoming sequel to a very lucrative franchise. Every time the slightest detail of the film was even hinted at, from casting decisions to shooting locations to basic plot points, said nerds went bonkers on blogs and social media.
This sequel, of course, is Transformers 4.
No, I'm just messing with you. It's Star Wars: Episode VII. I don't think anybody really cares about Transformers 4. Don't get me wrong, it will make $400 million at the box office whenever it gets released. But no one is really anticipating it like they are Star Wars.
Still, that hasn't prevented Paramount Pictures and director Michael Bay from pretending like people are eagerly awaiting any morsel of information about Transformers 4. They've been dropping hints and details, Disney-style, for months. Now they've finally unveiled a new poster and title for the movie, and I thought I'd throw them a bone by writing a post about it.
What does "Age of Extinction" mean, exactly? Well, if this were Star Wars 7, Man of Steel 2, or Avengers 2 we were talking about, people would be analyzing this to death. But everyone knows that, while all the Transformers movies look amazing, none of them make any damn sense. So people are pretty much just content to wait untill the movie actually comes out to have questions like this answered.
Don't tell Michael Bay, though. It's so cute that he thinks we're all obsessing over this film.
