Jim Carrey Disowns ‘Kick-Ass 2′ on Twitter

Looks like Jim Carrey has given up promoting his summer come-back flick Kick Ass 2 because he already got paid. Carrey took his cartoon mug to the top of a giant Twitter soapbox this weekend and wanted you all to know:

He continues, after getting cut off and realizing that shameless Hollywood moralizing often requires more than 140 characters:

I meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.

Not to be shutdown by the silliness of one man’s quest to misconstrue fake violence with real violence,  Kick-Ass creator and writer Mark Millar then published a response on his Millarworld forum:

Ultimately, this is his decision, but I’ve never quite bought the notion that violence in fiction leads to violence in real-life any more than Harry Potter casting a spell creates more Boy Wizards in real-life.

We love fake violence as much as the next guy and it’s nice to see Miller bringing Carrey back down to earth. Maybe if Carrey really cares that much he can donate all of the dirty filthy and unethical money he got from the film to victims of gun violence? No, that’s something that only happens in movies.
