Sam Fisher isn’t quite president yet in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist –lots of Tom Clancy heroes go on to higher political office after their spying and assassination days are over– but he is the leader of Fourth Echelon and obviously active in the field still. This gives him more power than ever before since he can now watch his own back and give himself access to all the info he needs without some shook bureaucrat telling him no all the time. That makes completing missions and assassinating enemies way easier.
In this new trailer we’re reminded that an American president takes an oath to preserve, protect and defend the US Constitution and that they’ll even ask for God’s help to do so. As you’ll see in Blacklist fulfilling that pledge sometimes means turning to a man like Sam Fisher to do awful things to reach the greater good. It’s not quite a “00″ license to kill like James Bond gets from the queen but Fisher ain’t going to be prosecuted for all the bodies he’s about to stack up in the new Splinter Cell either. In fact, the in-game President essentially tells him to do what he has to do and she’ll make it all work out in the end. What could go wrong?
