Vikings Linebacker Chad Greenway Wants Everyone Drunk By Kickoff Sunday
Teams will often go to any length in order to get an advantage over their opponent (within the rules, that is—don’t laugh). For the home team the crowd can be an invaluable tool to the team. If they are nice and rowdy at the right times it can really disrupt the opposing teams making it hard for them to make their calls.
On Sunday when the Vikings face one of their biggest rivals in the Chicago Bears they will need all the help they can get. After starting the season 4-1 they hit a slump going 2-5 over the last seven. At 6-6 they are among a small pack of teams on the outside looking in at the playoffs.
In order to have a shot to get in the Vikings will need to win Sunday when the Bears come to town. With Matt Forte not 100 percent the time could not be better for the Vikings to strike and get a key win over a quality team. However, with the way they have been playing and the loss of Percy Harvin to the IR, it does not appear likely the results will be any different than they were a couple weeks ago (28-10, Bears).
So they could really use whatever help they can get (within the scope of the rules, of course).
Linebacker Chad Greenway shared an idea with a local paper; a way in which the fans can be at their best when it comes to game time and they face off with the Bears for the 103rd time:
Wayne and Garth (from Wayne’s World) have the perfect response for this kind of situation.
Just in case the reporter did not hear him right, Greenway was kind enough to expound on what he would like fans to do before the game—which starts at 1 PM EST::
That’s it Chad. With all the incidents of fan violence these days lets encourage the fans to get toasted, in the morning no less, before they file into a stadium where they are going to sit next to some people that they hate for the next 3-4 hours.
The Vikings brass has yet to release a statement either apologizing for the incident or trying to come up with a cover story of some kind. Apparently they did not learn anything from the Tom Brady fiasco the Patriots brass had to deal with last season::
It’s nice to know that Brady was so concerned that the fans were having a good time at home games, but the front office was not too happy with him and “clarified” his comments by saying he meant for them to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water (of course).
Although how they were going to “get lubed up” was a bit of a mystery…
