Roddy White Says Falcons Can Go 16-0, Basically Assures Falcons Won’t Go 16-0

The Atlanta Falcons are 8-0 and have a complete team. Their offense isn’t covering for a weak defense or vice-versa. Their special teams are solid. The Falcons have won big and they’ve won close games. So of course with half the season done, the question is can they go 16-0? In reality, it means nothing if they do it but don’t win the Super Bowl.

Receiver Roddy White says that his team can go undefeated. I don’t know why he’s even talking about it. He should have done just the cliché thing and said ‘it doesn’t matter, we just want to get to the playoffs and see what we can do there.’ Can they do it? Right now it looks like they can. But let’s check their schedule and see how likely it actually is.

This week Atlanta plays in New Orleans. They might be 8-1 after that. The Saints are coming around, and the Super Dome is a hard place to play, especially when it would mean the world to the team to beat a division rival and end their dream of a perfect season.

After that game, the Falcons host the Cardinals. That’s a win for ATL. In Week 12, the Falcons go to Tampa Bay. That’s no guaranteed win with the way the Bucs are playing lately. Just four days after that game, the Saints roll into town for another meeting. The Saints could give the Falcons another tough test that week.

In week 14, the Falcons travel to Carolina. That should be a Falcon victory. The following week, the Giants head down to Atlanta, and that is far from a guaranteed win for the Birds. In the final two weeks, Atlanta goes to Detroit and then hosts the Buccaneers. Both of those should be good games.

So, no, the Falcons won’t be going 16-0, and really it doesn’t matter. In fact, just like the Patriots in 2007, it’s probably more pressure to make it to the Super Bowl with a spotless record.
