Giants Sweep Tigers to Win 2012 World Series!

About a week ago I watched the San Francisco Giants make a dramatic comeback to take the NLCS from the St. Louis Cardinals. After the Detroit Tigers had swept the Yankees I thought there was no way that the Giants could match up with these guys. Even after reviewing the games and checking out the stats I thought for sure that the Tigers were going to beat up the Giants.

Boy, was I ever wrong!

Instead the Giants turned in one of the most dominant performances in recent history to make sure that their was no doubt in anyone's mind that the boys from the City by the Bay were the best in the world. From Pablo Sandoval's three home run performance in Game 1 to the Tigers getting blanked in Games 2 and 3 the Giants were in complete control.

Detroit's big guns--especially triple crown winner Miguel Cabrera--never showed up for the Tigers. In fact, the most significant play that Cabrera made was striking out in the bottom of the tenth to give the win and the Series to the Giants.

For San Francisco it is the second World Series win in three years. The face of the team is a little different; Tim Lincecum came out of the 'pen this time after being the star starting pitcher in 2010. Pablo Sandoval, this year's MVP, wasn't a starter back then. Buster Posey (who hit a key two-run home run in the sixth) was just a rookie.

Congratulations on a job well done San Francisco! To celebrate the win with the Giants be sure and check out the gallery!
