Scottie Pippen’s 1991 Commercial for a Chicago Sub Shop is Sublime
Athletes love endorsements because they get their names and faces out there, get some extra money and they get to show their personalities. A lot of players get local spots if they maybe aren't quite ready for the big time, national stuff.
By 1991, Scottie Pippen was entering his fourth year in the NBA. He was good, but hadn't quite become the star he eventually would be. So Scottie got a local commercial for Mr. Submarine, a Chicago sandwich place. We've all seen local commercials and had some good laughs. This though, is gold. This is local commercial making at it's finest, with the highest tech available for local commercial editing at the time, obviously.
Watch this and tell me you don't want to slam dunk a sub sandwich.
