I’d Hate to Think What Would Happen if the AlphaDog’s Screws Come Loose (VIDEO)
First it was cyborg cockroaches. And now it's dog robots that
chasefollow you around while you stomp around the forest? Still sounds pretty creepy to me (although honestly, I'd prefer the dogs versus the roaches any day.)So the brilliant minds at Boston Dynamics have managed to build the AlphaDog, a bot that has been programmed to help soldiers carry around their stuff. You know, because guns and all that extra ammo are pretty heavy, after all.
The AlphaDogs look powerful and they're strong, too. Word is that they can carry up to 400 pounds of gear over 20 miles without needing to refuel. Guess we don't need to ask who's the top dog in the battlefield now, eh?
A rep from DARPA says that the bots have been designed with the aim to "combine the capabilities of a pack mule with the intelligence of a trained animal." I think they've managed to do exactly just that if you watch the dogs in action by checking out the video above!
