When the often-troubled wide receiver, Kenny Britt, was arrested for the eighth time earlier this year in July the general perception was that commissioner Roger Goodell would throw the book at him. The loss would be as serious one to the Titans offense this season--depending if the inevitable suspension was a long one as expected.
Luck has shined down on Britt this time. In a surprising move, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell only suspended Britt for a single game; good news not only to Britt, but to quarterback Jake Locker, head coach Mike Munchak, and fantasy football players everywhere.
Getting acclimated to the starter's job in the NFL is never an easy thing. To make the learning curve a little less steep for new QB Jake Locker it helps to have multiple weapons. While Locker still had Nate Washington and rookie Kendall Wright, it can't hurt to have another productive weapon for the team to make use of.
Add in the yards that Chris Johnson will (hopefully) pick up on the ground and the Tennessee Titans have reason to be very happy here.
That of course is music to the ears of head coach Mike Munchak. No head coach wants his offense to do without any of its weapons if at all possible, due to injury or suspension. Having Britt out of the line up for multiple games would have made it more challenging for the team to win not to mention hampering the development of young Jake Locker.
Having Britt for every game but one on the field will only help the team win, something that a second-year head coach likes very much.
Besides Britt, the people that will benefit from Goodell's light punishment the most will be fantasy owners everywhere that had the foresight to go ahead and draft Britt even though it was not looking to good for the young receiver (pending suspension and his knee injury). Since it's just a one-game suspension it will almost be like he has an extra bye-week.
So those of you that did draft him be sure and gloat over your opponents who laughed at you for taking Britt before you took a kicker, and let them know how great you are (and how they are not).
