Goooooooooood morning, Egotastic readers! It's a...well it's actually pretty dark and dismal morning up here in Canada but I'm remaining overly optimistic nevertheless. Last week we took a look at the importance of the lesser known role of the 'side kick' in the world of gaming. We had some laughs and made some memories but it's another week and that means...you guessed it; a new list in and a new direction! Wow, you're pretty smart.
Ever since the dawn of gaming (well, at least after it's first baby steps), video game developers have filled their games with text. Players don't want to just watch a ball bounce back and forth between two paddles; they want to be able to read/listen to some real dialogue. Once characters who weren't colored rectangles entered the world of gaming, dialogue became more than just a mysterious guide that followed you through your adventure. Dialogue became a way for developers to really give their characters some...uh...character! Some were badass chick magnets, others were overly ecstatic Italians. Hell, it's what changed Mario from an emotionless pixel man to the most recognizable face in the video game industry. Check out my list of some of the most memorable quotes in gaming and just let the memories flow.
