Michael Fassbender Set to Take on ‘Assassin’s Creed’

The award-winning action-adventure game Assassin’s Creed is heading to the big screen, and who better than to produce and star in it than Michael Fassbender? You might remember seeing Michael in sci-fi flick Prometheus (check out the features that Egotastic did on the movie here), where he played the android named David.

This was recently confirmed by a report from Variety. The game’s developer, Ubisoft, had initially planned to work with Sony Pictures on the Assassin’s Creed movie adaptation. However, the negotiations were put on hold and Ubisoft decided to gun it and produce and finance the film independently through their Ubisoft Motion Pictures (UMP) division.

At the forefront of the entire division is former EuropaCorp CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet, who was all praises for Fassbender.

Michael Fassbender was our first choice. Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.

UMP plans to cut down on production costs by having their in-house game studios do the visual and special effects for the movie. Baronnet also revealed that they will be re-opening talks with studios after some details are taken care of.

We’re open to re-discuss with the key studios once the production package is finalized. Whatever the financial model, UMP will limit its risk investment.

We think Assassin’s Creed rocks–and we hope the movie will, too!
