Ichiro Suzuki woke up yesterday in Seattle thinking he was going to play against the Yankees and was then traded to them before the game. Imagine that. You get ready to go to work and your boss says, 'you know what, go ahead and go work for that rival company.'
Not only that, Ichiro went from last place in the AL West to first place in the AL East with a legit shot at a World Series. Not a bad turn of events for the future Hall of Famer.
Ichiro was inserted into the starting lineup, batted eighth and went 1-4 with a stolen base. The Seattle crowd gave their former superstar quite the ovation when he stepped to the plate for his first at-bat, which was nice since he had done so much good on the field there. So now the Yankees have another solid hitter in an already deep lineup and the Mariners can start trying to build for their future. Everybody wins!
