Get Out The Way Coach! I'm Going Home!

For the Philadelphia Phillies the first half of the season has been an exercise in frustration. Along with numerous injuries, the team's god-like pitching staff has been playing like the mere mortals they are. That's translated into a record of 37-50, 14 games behind the first place Washington Nationals (yes, the Washington Nationals).
Suffice it say, that whenever a player on a losing team has an opportunity to score a run he better do whatever it takes to cross home plate. On Sunday, outfielder Hunter Pence did just that when he ran over 3B coach Juan Samuel en route to home plate (the Phillies still lost 6-3).
Technically, Pence could have been called out. According to the rules, whenever a base runner comes into contact with a coach the base runner is out. However, the rule is intended to keep coaches from assisting base runners; Samuel definitely did not do that.
Call it a hunch, but I think he'll make sure he's out of the way next time.
