Watch Out LeBron! Jabari's Coming!

If the NBA could still draft players right out of high school there would have been a couple of teams that would have tried to get Jabari Parker last season even though he had not graduated yet. If they wanted to get him this year they still couldn't; the kid has another year of high school still to come.

Why would pro teams be clamoring to sign this kid? For the last two years--that's right, as a sophomore and junior--he's been considered by many to be the best high school basketball player in the nation (No. 11 in the above video).

Standing 6-feet 9-inches tall and weighing in at 220 pounds, he definitely has the body for the NBA. It doesn't hurt that he has to pretty good head on his shoulders as well; he has a GPA of 3.7.

Since NBA teams can't draft him yet, college coaches will have their turn to fawn over the kid. Since the NCAA recently lifted the restrictions on calling and sending text messages to recruits you better believe that plenty are plugging Jabari's number into their speed dial.

They may have a hard time getting in touch with him. Jabari's mom has banned anyone from contacting her son. She wants him to be able to enjoy what he does and not get bombarded by coaches trying to talk him into committing to their school.

"We want him to enjoy being who he is. If he wants to talk, we'll ask him first. Right now, we don't want him to be over-bombarded because coaches can sometimes be aggressive, and that can be overwhelming."

Wherever he does go he will likely be a one and done type player. However, teams may still have to wait a couple of years to get him on the court. As a Mormon, when he turns 19 he is supposed to go on a two-year mission (although it is voluntary and other athletes have passed on it to begin careers in the pros).

They say that good things come to those who wait. When it comes to a talent like this you know someone will.
