It might only be early June, and NFL teams might not even have started training camp, but that doesn't mean guys can't start being confident about their Super Bowl chances. Case in point, San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, who 'strongly' believes the 49ers should be Super Bowl favorites.

I'm not going to say that they shouldn't be, but it's a little early to be throwing that out there. Yes, the Niners were 13-3 last year, but they couldn't win at home in the playoffs, so it might be best to keep that kind of talk to a small circle, like inside the locker room or at a barbecue with friends.

Davis wasn't saying that SF was going to win the Super Bowl, so I'll give him credit on that, and he did follow up his line about them being the favorites with this.

But I can’t talk about it because it’s all about work. It starts here at practice. I don’t want to talk about it and brag and say this and that, because it’s not about that. It’s about working first. And in the end, you will see where you’ll be.

Still, you would hope that a team that did as well as the Niners did last season would come into the new season with some confidence. Davis also says he's looking forward to playing alongside the un-retired Randy Moss so that teams won't be able to double and triple team.

We'll can finally start seeing what's what when the NFL season kicks off in September.
