Thunder Put an End to Spurs Winning Streak in Style (VIDEO)
There is an old saying that I am sure we have all heard at one time or another: if you are going to do something, you might as well do it right. Well, when it came to putting an end to the San Antonio Spurs winning streak, the Oklahoma City Thunder made sure there was no question they did it right.
The game was actually competitive in the first quarter with the Spurs holding a two point advantage at the end of the period. Slowly but surely, the Thunder began to take control of the game in the second quarter en route to a 54-41 lead. From that point the Thunder never looked back.
Oklahoma City pulled ahead by as much as 27 in the second half and never let the Spurs get close - cruising to an easy 102-82 win. Four of five starters for the Thunder scored in double figures led by Kevin Durant's 22 points. Tony Parker followed up a 34 point night in Game Two with just 16.
If I was a paranoid conspiracy theorist, I'd say that the loss was by design; that Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich wanted the specter of 'the streak' gone so the team could just concentrate on playing good basketball. But since I am not a paranoid conspiracy theorist...
The Thunder will try to pull even with a win in Game Four of the series Saturday night starting at 8:30 PM ET.
