Thunder Beat Spurs to Earn Trip to Finals (VIDEO)
Basketball fans knew that the Western Conference Finals were going to be tough. The two best teams in the West (and possibly the NBA) were set to duke it out to see who would get the chance to call themselves champions. Would it be the young upstarts in OKC or could the veteran-laden Spurs pull out the win?
After dropping two games to the Spurs to open the series and looking out-classed in every way, the Thunder came roaring back to take a 3-2 series lead going into Wednesday's Game 6. They had the privilege of playing at home where they had yet to lose all post season--and they still haven't.
At one time the Spurs looked in control of the game leading by 18, but the Thunder proved to be too much for the Spurs in the end. After the Spurs took a 63-48 lead into the half, the wheels appeared to fall off the wagon in the second. San Antonio could only manage 36 points in the second half, just two more than they scored in the first period. The Thunder, on the other hand scored 59 in the half.
Final score: Thunder 107, Spurs 99
