Sequels talk is all the rage at the moment, what with The Expendables 2 and Taken 2 on the horizon over the next few months as well as the eagerly anticipated third addition to Christopher Nolan's Batman saga, so it's also good to know that 2013 will have it's fair share of new instalments too.
The Hangover, Scary Movie, Die Hard, Iron Man, Fast and Furious, Thor, Anchorman and Sin City franchises will all get sequels over the next 18 months but it's J.J Abrams Star Trek 2 that will be the most anticipated.
And with filming still currently taking place, it's star Chris Pine has taken time out to discuss the project and reveal what we can expect. Click below to check out what he had to say as well as the latest developments with Timur Bekmambetov's Wanted 2, which he has been talking about whilst promoting Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Talking to Collider, Pine has revealed that the narrative will look deeper into the character on board the Enterprise stating that, "With J.J. and company, what they're really, really good at and what sets them apart is that they know how to do the action and they know that if you don't give them the small character-driven drama, you can blow up anything you want and no one cares. People will leave the theater because we've all seen it, a million ways."
Pine continued, "With the second one, people will find that it's the mythic structure, done really well. The character journeys are just perfect mythic structures. They do it so well. The journeys with the characters will be really great, and the explosions and set pieces are going to knock people out of their seats." Which is always good to hear.
Wanted 2 director Bekmambetov has claimed that over the last few weeks he has had a prophecy about how his sequel should commence. When talking to WorstPreviews.com he noted that "An unbelievable thing happened three weeks ago because we stopped, we didn't know what to do for three or four years. Three weeks ago I came up with a great idea and I pitched this idea and everybody fell in love with it." The lucky son of a bitch.
Timur added that they are currently working on a script which will be a continuation of James McAvoy's Wesley Gibson character from the original and he has promised that it will be very shocking indeed. It sounds like it will be some time before the film actually comes to fruition though.
