Saints Row’s ‘Enter The Dominatrix’ Cancelled as DLC, Becomes Part of Saint’s Row 4

If you follow along to Egotastic!'s 'Hot Coffee' page and follow my articles religiously, you should recognize the headline above from a similar article I wrote last month regarding a brand spankin' new downloadable expansion for Saint's Row: The Third titled, 'Enter The Dominatrix'. This was looking to be a very large expansion and many readers found it odd to release such a large expansion so long after the game's launch but, as it goes, 'Enter The Dominatrix' has been cancelled...sort of.

The guys over at THQ have confirmed that the expansion has, indeed, been cancelled. Well, more like taken aside and turned into something better. 'Enter The Dominatrix' will now become part of the highly anticipated Saint's Row 4 instead of a standalone DLC. Saint's Row 4 is currently slated for a release sometime in 2013 and promises to be even more over the top than it's predecessor. I don't honestly see how that's possible but I welcome it with open arms.

'When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise… I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. For a little insight into what Saint's Row 4 will hold for gamers, 'Enter The Dominatrix' was going to make quite a large jump further into the world of unrealistic gang wars...

Saints Row: The Third – Enter the Dominatrix picks up immediately following the events of Saints Row: The Third. For centuries, alien warlord Zinyak has eyed Earth and its precious natural resources and females with a watchful eye. As he prepares an armada for invasion, he has only one worry: the Third Street Saints.

Once a simple street gang from Stilwater, the Saints have evolved into a global empire, replete with bombastic TV advertising and tasteful consumer products, the kind of TV advertising and consumer products that would give any alien warlord pause. Clearly, the Saints are the biggest badasses on Earth.

Now, in order to prepare his forces for domination, Zinyak captures the leader of the Saints and imprisons him in an elaborate virtual reality simulation. This simulation program looks and feels like Steelport, but it is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Here, you are a slave. Welcome… to the Dominatrix.

If they were planning to include super powers and alien enemies for a Saint's Row expansion, I can't wait to see what they have planned for a full fledged sequel. I guess that's what happens when you've already kicked the crap out of super soldiers and virtual emo dragon beasts...
