Success breeds jealousy, and getting rich after being the number two pick in the NFL Draft apparently means guys you went to college with will try to extort you for some of that money. Allegedly.
Washington Redskins rookie QB Robert Griffin III was the target of a former Baylor basketball player who sought cash in exchange for keeping quiet about some 'derogatory information' on RG3.
Richard Khamir Hurd, according to court documents, got in touch with RG3's reps in the middle of June and said he had that 'derogatory information' and wanted to get paid to not let it out.
The only problem for Hurd was that Griffin's people contacted the FBI, who were on hand for the transaction that saw Hurd get a check for signing a non-disclosure agreement. Hurd was arrested shortly after that. Neither Griffin or his agent were named in the court documents, but the Waco Tribune had sources who say that Griffin was indeed the target.
