No. 1 High School Player in Class of 2013 Chooses College (VIDEO)
It may seem kind of silly to be talking about high school kids committing to colleges with schools barely out a few weeks. When it comes to the top players in the nation there is never a bad time for recruiting or announcements of any kind.
We are talking about the kind of players that can change the fortune of a program almost single-handedly. Robert Nkemdiche, the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2013, is that kind of player (No. 1 in the above video).
He’s going to Clemson.
The Tigers were far off the radar of most analysts. Most believed that he’d be headed to Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia, or Mississippi State.
Nkemdiche and his buddy, defensive back David Kamara, had been saying that they wanted to go to the same college. So when Kamara announced his decision it was only a formality for Nkemdiche to do the same.
Some schools will probably not give up on the Nkemdiche. The commitment he made to Clemson Thursday was only a verbal. It is not unusual for recruits to change their mind after they make a non-binding verbal commitment.
Tigers head coach Dabo Swiney will be doing everything he can to make that does not happen. Last season his defense allowed close to 400 yards a game, recorded less than two sacks a game, and allowed nearly 30 points a game, so obviously they could use a talent like Nkemdiche.
