Kevin Youkilis Now a Political Pawn?
It is nothing new for professional baseball to be a hot topic in political circles. With the acquittal of Roger Clemens it looks like we might finally be done with the hearings into steroid use in baseball (talk about a colossal waste of government time and money). This time around the issue is a bit more specific. In fact, it involves just one player.
Kevin Youkilis.
After spending his entire career in Boston with the Red Sox the fan favorite was traded to the Chicago White Sox Sunday for two players not even worth mentioning. When President Obama was in town for a fundraiser Tuesday, he though it was necessary to thank the fans in Bean Town for sending his White Sox a player they needed.
Watch the video and you'll see that the crowd does not take to his ribbing. The President does get booed for his heckling, but you can also hear a healthy amount of laughter in the crowd as well. It doesn't hurt when a person yells out,"We still love you."
If the story stopped here it would be a cute one. President Obama is well known for his support of sports teams in Chicago. Some folks in the crowd had to be expecting it. What they didn't expect probably was that Mitt Romney was going to try to use the incident to take a stab at Obama, calling him insensitive for mocking the team after it lost a popular player, especially since the Red Sox are struggling this season.
Whoever released the comments should have watched the video first to see(hear) people laughing. Instead that person helped make their candidate look like a tool.
(The video in question.)
