Devils Stay Alive in Stanley Cup Finals with Game 5 Win (VIDEO)
After shocking hockey fans everywhere through the early rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs this season, fans had come to expect great things for the Los Angeles Kings; maybe even the greatest thing--Lord Stanley's Cup. After three solid wins to start the series it appeared as if it was only a matter of time before the Kings would be hoisting the Cup up high.
Two games later the New Jersey Devils have proven that they are here to play after all.
The Devils got out on top in the first when Zach Parise got one by Kings goalie Jonathan Quick at the 12:45 mark to give New Jersey a 1-0 lead. Justin Williams tied it up when he hit a 19 foot wrist shot roughly three and a half minutes into the second period. Later in the period Bryce Salvador would score off a deflection to give the Devils back the lead, and eventually the win.
It was the first time that the Kings had lost on the road all post season. They will now head back home to try and close out the series once again. The puck is scheduled to drop for Game 6 on Monday at 8 PM ET.
