Bryce Harper Knocks His First Walk Off Hit for the Nationals (VIDEO)
Bryce Harper is continuing to live up to the hype. The 19-year-old phenom has helped the Washington Nationals get into first place in the tight National League East, and he's doing it with style.
Last night, Harper stepped up in the bottom of the 12th with the bases loaded and smacked a single into left field, driving in the winning run for his first walk off hit as a major leaguer.
Harper was happy for the win, but voiced his disappointment at going 2-7 on the night. Still, he said the win wipes out his own off game.
So far, Harper is batting .288 with five home runs and 14 runs batted in. The fact that he's helped the injury ravaged Nats get into first place is even more impressive. Did I mention he's only 19? I did, and I'll keep mentioning because he's that impressive.
His teammate Ian Desmond says that Harper is one of the best players he's ever seen. That might be a little premature, but it's hard not to get caught up in the excitement.
