Watch Out! Zombie Blondes Storm Facebook with Fake Profiles
You might have noticed a sudden influx of strikingly gorgeous blonde users on Facebook. Some of your friends might have two or three of these bombshells in their friends list, and you might have a few pending requests from some of them yourself.
But before you accept their friend requests or try to hit them up for their phone number, be warned: they're not real. Several outlets have reported that these are, in fact, zombie profiles created by scammers and cyber criminals with the intention of stealing your personal information, hijacking your account, and infecting your computer with malware or viruses.
These blondes have pretty generic names, such as Mandy Barnes, Jasmine Wilson, Meredith Gonzales, Sonja Watson, Lucia Long and Meredith Baker. People might be tricked into thinking that they're legitimate accounts, because each account has close to a hundred friends and has filled in details like their interests as well as the schools they attended.
Upon closer inspection, however, you'll notice that they all have the same favorite sport (cricket), the same favorite movie (Arab Spring Wedding), and a similar quotation (something along the lines of "hi" or "hello" followed by a number of dots.) That's because they're the product of the same bot-scammer.
These blondes are clearly bad news, so if one of them adds you up or sends you a message, reject their friend request or delete their message and tell your friends to do the same.
