Quasar Brings Multi-tasking to the iPad–But Only to the Jailbroken Ones (VIDEO)
Tablet users have been clamoring for the multitask feature for a long time now. Manufacturers have yet to deploy multitasking on both Android and iOS tablets, although we hear that it's definitely already in the works.
Apparently, developer Pedro Franceschi has beat Apple and Android device manufacturers to it with the release of Quasar, a windows manager program for the iOS that allows a number of different apps to be run simultaneously in separate windows.
These windows can be dragged around the screen, resized, and manipulated as you'd normally interact with them on your computer. Since Quasar is fully integrated with the iOS notification center, tapping on notifications will just open the app in a new window. This is still the first release of the app, so you can expect to encounter a few bugs here and there while using it. Not to worry though, because Franceschi has promised to release fixes for these in the coming months.
Quasar is priced at $9.99 and is available from the Cydia Store. The downside is that it can only be run on jailbroken iPads, so if you're not big on jailbreaking your device, then you might have to wait for an official solution from Apple.
