Many film franchise’s have returned over the last decade. Die Hard, Terminator and Rocky have come back to our big screens but rather than embracing the r-rated and lude aura of their predecessors have been family friendly affairs.
When it was announced that the Alien franchise would have a new instalment many fans of the series worried that it too may be censored to appeal to more demographics. Well you can put all your worries in a sack mister because FOX CEO Tom Rothman has promised that whatever version of the film Ridley Scott wants to put out will be the one that is shown.
Collider has reported that Rothman announced “I can assure the fans absolutely they can take it that the film will not be compromised either way. So if that means that the film is R, then it’ll be an R. If it’s PG-13, then it’ll be a PG-13. But it will not be compromised.”
That’s what we want to hear. I can only presume that Scott’s Prometheus will continue in the same vain as Alien, Aliens etc and so will be quite a taut and intense flick. Scott has even implied that there is a scene akin to the impact of the infamous chest scene of the original so it could get graphic.
