Phil Mushnick Says He’s Not a Racist For Saying the Nets Should be the N*****s

Phil Mushnick, the New York Post writer who figured the Brooklyn Nets should call themselves the Brooklyn N*****s because of Jay-Z's stake in the team has responded to the outrage over his column.

This might be a little shocking, but Phil's not apologizing for any of it.

Bobsblitz.com got Mushnick's response.

Bob - Such obvious, wishful and ignorant mischaracterizations of what I write are common. I don't call black men the N-word; I don't regard young women as bitches and whores; I don't glorify the use of assault weapons and drugs. Jay-Z, on the other hand.....Is he the only NBA owner allowed to call black men N---ers?"  

Mushnick wasn't finished.

Jay-Z profits from the worst and most sustaining self-enslaving stereotypes of black-American culture and I'M the racist? Some truths, I guess, are just hard to read, let alone think about. 

(Same column I provide support for Amar'e Stoudemire at a time when everyone in town is ripping him to shreds. That was my LEAD, too, but what does that matter?)

Ah, the old, 'I write nice things about black people, so I'm not a racist' defense. Whatever, Phil. Jay-Z made a lot of money rapping about the hard life he led, sure. He also founded a highly successul record label, a highly successful clothing company, and owns a chain of sports bars. 

Bobsblitz said that they were told The New York Post had no problem with the column.
