No 8 Philadelphia Takes Down the Mighty Chicago Bulls (VIDEO)
As far as history is concerned, the No 8 seed beat the No 1 seed; something that does not happen very often at all. In reality, the Philadelphia 76ers barely managed to beat a severely depleted Bulls team.
The Chicago Bulls were supposed to be championship contenders this season. They were supposed to be in the road to their first title since the Jordan days. Even with the injuries that kept Derrick Rose out for chunks of the season the Bulls were still able to earn the best record in the league.
The Bulls had a great shot of bringing a title back to Chicago. That was until Derrick Rose got hurt.
Losing a player of his caliber was tough, but the team proved it could still win without him during the regular season. It would be a challenge, but they were still the team to beat.
That was until Joakim Noah went down.
Any coach will tell you that the team is not made up of just two players; that the guys on the bench have to be ready to step in when the guys on the court go down. However, there is a reason why they are on the bench and not on the court in the first place.
As depleted as they were the Bulls still gave it the old college try. Game 2 and 3 were lost by just 5 points (74-79) and 7 points (82-89) while Game 5 was lost by one (79-78) courtesy of a pair of free throws by Andre Iguodala with 2.2 seconds to play.
Better luck next year Chicago.
