Jered Weaver Throws No-Hitter for the Angels
Jered Weaver turned a lot of heads when the Los Angeles Angels' ace decided to stick with the Angels this past offseason, instead of bolting for more money. A rare move these days for sure, but let's be real, signing an $85 million, five year extension isn't exactly minimum wage.
Last night pitching in front of his Southern California friends and family, Weaver threw a no-hitter in a 9-0 win over the Minnesota Twins. It was night that proved his decision to stay with the Angels was the right one.
Weaver threw the tenth no-hitter in Angels history. Nolan Ryan tossed four of the previous nine, including two in 1973.
The chance to make history at Angels stadium wasn't lost on Weaver, a SoCal native.
Maybe this is what the team needs to get their season on track. After the big signing of Albert Puljos in the offseason the Angels were expected to be a World Series favorite, but so far have been mostly a disappointment.
