Does Web Porn Mean The Death of The Porn Star?

If you loved the work of Jenna Jameson enough for her to have her own shelf (or box) in your house then you may be sad to find out that the age of the porn super star is dead. At least according to a new survey put out by XBIZ.

The survey, which concerns itself with the competition that traditional porn faces from the variety of videos on the web, recently showed that many industry professionals believe that it will be hard, or impossible to reach the climax of adult super stardom now that the billions of erotic videos on the web have created a market saturation.

The survey asked industry insides the following question, “What does the future hold for porn stars? Will there be another Jenna Jameson?” The response was an unenthusiastic no. The responses broke down like this, “XBIZ found that 46% of the respondents say that, ‘Yes, there will be other porn superstars; it’s only a matter of time.’ But another 27% say, ‘No, the days of the porn superstar are over as a result of the Internet,’ with the remaining 27% saying that, ‘There will be many porn performers who will be able to achieve only moderate success.’ ”

While it may be hard for us to understand their concerns right away, after it’s not like the porn industry is in any danger of going away. It’s produces billions and billions of dollars each year. The companies are worried about their bottom lines. After all when intrepid and sexy young ladies build their following on Twitter and making her living with subscriptions to her site and a good webcam, why would she need the porn industry? That is why companies are pressing girls to still work with agencies.
In the release Joone, the co-founder of Digital Playground took an optimistic and agency friendly view, “The fans are always looking for that next ‘it’ girl. It’s all about the right girl with the right company behind her to let the world know.”

What do you think guys? Would you rather have access to a million girls, or would the same familiar face in your videos be comforting?
