There seems to be an epidemic of sorts at Camden Yards, the home of the Baltimore Orioles. Out of the 11 home games that the team has played so far there have been idiots taking the field in four of them. I'm not talking about the team mind you, but misguided fans that for some odd reason think it is a good idea to run around the field in the middle of the game.
Apparently the stadium does have a policy for when this happens: circle the runner and then close the circle till the runner is apprehended. It sounds like a pretty sound plan, but something isn't working. These guys seem to keep coming out of the woodwork in search of their 15 minutes of fame.
The problem here is pretty simple; all you have to do is look at how they handled the Batman streaker on opening day. Batman, like the joker in this video, had plenty of time to prance around the field before security even got close. This idiot even got to slide into home plate!
That's not the worst of it though. All that stadium officials did to Batman was ban him from the park for life (something that is not easy to actually police); no criminal charges, no fines, no real penalty of any sort. To make it even more enticing for idiots to interrupt games this guy even got interviewed by the local media and even made it into national news!
So when it comes to streaking at Camden Yards you get more than enough time to do what you want, there is no real penalty, and you have the chance to make local if not national news. Why would you not want to run?
Incidentally, the streaker in the video above interrupted Baltimore's 10-1 win over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.
