NBA Trade Rumors Running Rampant — Get the Latest News Here!
The internet is a simply wonderful tool. Need to find out how to get somewhere? Check the internet. Wondering what time a movie starts? Check the internet. Wondering if a certain celebrity is dead? Don’t check the internet—too many hoaxes these days.
With the help of the World Wide Web information is able to be disseminated faster and farther than ever before. That means as soon as someone with WiFi access hears a rumor that a certain NBA star is being dangled as trade bait we all know it.
The NBA trade deadline this season has been set for March 15. As the date gets closer, expect some rumors to die away while others gain steam. For now, the following are among the latest and greatest trade rumors floating around the National Basketball Association:
Likely Leaving:
Dwight Howard: the man is going to go somewhere. Like Carmelo Anthony last season, the team knows that he’s gone at season’s end. Rather than get nothing for one of the best players in the league they will have to trade him before the deadline.
The problem is he is only willing to go to a contender. Finding one that is willing to give up what he’s worth will be hard especially since they will want to know that he is going to resign with whoever he goes to. That could mean that if he is going to a contender like the Mavericks, Nets, Lakers, or Knicks he may not get top dollar. On the other hand, the Magic could bring in another star, and he might not go anywhere…
Boston’s Big Three: With Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen’s contracts expiring you’d think their names would be getting battered about; Allen’s getting a ton of attention, but KG is getting zilch. Rumors have the team shopping Paul Pierce around, but getting more inquiries about the availability of Allen.
Possibly Leaving:
Steve Nash: The word is that he is not going to ask for a trade, but will not fight the team should they make one. Nash has to know that his days are winding down, and he likely wants to go to a contender. The question will be whether there will be one that is willing to give the Suns enough in return (but will also hinge on how much the Suns will demand). Dallas has been rumored as a potential suitor (if the Mavericks don’t snag Deron Williams or Dwight Howard).
Deron Williams: the Nets got Deron Williams in hopes of building up the roster prior to their move to NYC next season. They’ve failed to build up the roster and are no looking to get something for Williams before losing him to free agency this summer. Dallas has been a rumored possibility, but Orlando could be in the mix too. Apparently Dwight Howard has expressed an interest in playing with Williams.
Monta Ellis: the Golden State Warriors have made it no secret that they want Dwight Howard (even though he doesn’t want to be there) and have dangled Ellis as bait. The problem they will have is that they think they can do a one for one here (not a chance).
