Confirmed: Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 to Ship Out in the U.S. Soon
You saw it first in 2011's IFA consumer electronics trade show. You might probably be one of the hundreds of thousands of people waiting for it to reach the shores of the United States. And it's finally here--well, almost here: Samsung's Galaxy S WiFi 3.6.
Samsung announced the device way back in September of last year but didn't make any mention of a U.S. release for it. However, it seems like they're going to be shipping out the gadgets here soon, although no definite date has been given.
The Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 is Samsung's portable media player device, which some people say can compete directly against Apple's iPod Touch. The international version will come with either 8GB or 16GB of internal space and will be equipped with an open MicroSD card slot to add extra memory. The device is also fitted with two cameras: a front-facing VGA shooter and a rear-facing 2-megapixel camera.
The Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 doesn't boast of an extremely large screen size though (it only comes with a 3.6-inch display with a resolution of 800x480), but it does have a powerful 1GZ Hummingbird processor running under its hood. Note that Samsung has previously released only 4 and 5-inch screen versions of the Galaxy Player/Galaxy S WiFi series in the United States.
A 4-inch version of the device is already available for less than $200, so price estimates for the Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 is around $140-$170 range.
